Montreux is a town across Lake Geneva. We took the ferry from a town called Ouchy to Montreux, which took an hour and 45 minutes. During the ride, we experienced sun, rain, clouds, and wind, so remember to pack a raincoat and sit outside. The view of various towns, mountains along the coast is amazing. We had breakfast in the town and walked around. A beautiful 45-minute walk takes you to Chillon Castle. We walked slowly, stopped to enjoy the view, and hung out, so it took us more than an hour.
The last part of the walk gets quieter as you approach the castle. At the beginning, there are many shopping areas and street performers singing and playing instruments. The castle is huge; if you read and explore, you need at least an hour. It is apparently the most visited historical building in Switzerland (I will read more about it). The entrance fee is 15 CHF. If you are not a history buff and don't want to spend an hour climbing lots of stairs and walking, you might want to skip it. You can still enjoy the lake walk and take pictures outside the castle.
After visiting the castle, we took a local bus to Vevey, Charlie Chaplin’s town. We saw his statue and walked around. His home was a little further, so we decided to skip it. We took the train from Vevey to Pully and then took an Uber home. In one day, we used a bus, taxi, local train, and boat.
The Ferry costs 14 CHF per person ( with Swiss Half fare card)
