Old Silver Beach- Falmouth - Sunset visit Review from Aug 25th 2020

Living in East Coast I miss sunset on Water. Thanks to google Map I found some amazing places - this post is about one of those.

I have been to Old Silver Beach in Falmouth couple of times but never for Sunset. Last time we were there I noticed the sky , It was so dramatic. After a whole day at the beach I couldn’t stay for Sunset bu that image was stick in my mind. 5 PM drama was just a glimpse of beginning of sunset.
Yesterday we left home ( Franklin) around 3.30 and were there in little over one hour.
Things to remember -
Many restaurants in the area are closed on Monday
The parking attendant leaves around 4 so you get free parking after 4 PM
otherwise it is $20
The resident sticker lot is sandy and the non resident area is full of pebbles ( around 6 ft) then its all sandy
we parked in the resident lot this time. Knew from last trip about Non resident lot.
the Water is really warm and its a shallow beach. You can go very far in the water without worry.
The Sunset was amazing even with the cloudy sky.
a long sand area for kids to play, I saw lot of young families.
if you drive from Franklin, just grab your dinner and spend couple of hours. hour drive back home too.

Cooking Demo - The Pandemic, Heat, Summer and a saree

While growing up I have always craved for different and spicier food. We had a very simple menu in our household. Food was for hunger not for fun or social gatherings. But one thing for sure we always ate together. Dinner was like the biggest thing of the day. It was our social hour. I craved for different food and never missed a chance to eat in someone else’s home :) my mother called me “chatori” चटोरी  (foodie in a sense)

So it was very natural for me to explore the cuisine scene wherever I went. From Pune to Singapore to Boston I learnt and explore more and more. Cooked for fun and with love. Lot of Ashish’s batch mates and colleagues have been our regular guests. It didn’t change much as we moved to our home in Franklin. My cooking evolved, I don’t cook like my mom at all. My mami (aunt) was my inspiration in kitchen, her style and attitude towards food I followed not the recipes. Now I wish I had learnt some from my grandmothers and mami. My cooking is more quick, fast and fusion of various cuisines.

When I was asked to do a demo for my colleagues I gladly agreed. I offered to show Pulao ( Rice Dish), Dal (Lentil Soup) and Tandoori Chicken in an hour over Zoom.  It was lot of fun. The participant were shocked that we could make 3 things in an hour. I realized cooking in kitchen is so different than cooking over Zoom but thats what we learnt in this pandemic -Adaptation .

It was one of the hottest day and 4 PM is really not a good time to start cooking but I am glad we did, People had something different and fun for their dinner that night.

A simple linen came out to help with cooking in the heat.

REGULAR HOURS:

MON – SAT: 11AM – 7PM

SUNDAY: 12PM – 7PM

A wonderful Friday dinner at George's Surf & Turf in Mendon. A dear friend is my to go person for many things she suggested this one.

The food was good. Seafood, not many vegetarian options. I want to write about the place not about food. I always look for places who are good for families with special needs children. This place sure makes the cut.

A big outdoor area, with a sand play place, fenced toy house and lot of lounge chairs. Picnic benches in covered space but many in open too. I saw so many young families.

May be check the menu in advance, order over phone. Lines were long enough for order and pick up but moved fast. I think you can bring your own drink.

Because it is kind of pick and eat out place, you have to buy the water. I will suggest carry the water bottle.

Ice cream was good too. but not exceptional. The way my older one puts it, It is Seafood place not  Icecream place. We were okay with our choices.

we ordered seafood platter and fish and chips and one cheese burger for Anand. It is not ($) place but not overly expensive either. It is CASH ONLY place. Dont forget that :)

Decluttering the life, mind and Facebook

When things get tough we all find ways to get through the time. Those things work some time and sometimes they just don’t. You are forced to find what works for you in that given situation. It’s like we evolve as human being. Our mentality and thinking evolves too ( Shape and Size in my case evolved more than my mind unfortunately). Things mattered most once don’t matter now. We move on not only with our needs but people, places, wants and desires. Our expectation from people, relationship and life changes.

Last week I went through that phase, overwhelmed by too long of a to-do list I needed to make some changes. I exactly knew what I needed to do but talking to a friend was like forced start. “Declutter your life”. Mr. husband has been saying the same thing for ages – “You don’t have to be part of everything”. Everything comes on its own time and it was time for decluttering Facebook. That evening I spent couple of hours and went through my friends list and was surprised to see how obsolete people can be in life. My world is full of people from many walks of life. Some were very important then but not anymore. My Facebook account was decluttered that night, time to move on to another aspect of crazy life.

I went through the list and removed people whom I didn’t interacted in long time, people who didn’t commented or said hello in long time. Many past memories were revisited, some I didnt even remember and some didnt bring a smile on my face and some just were not contributing in my life in any ways. I didnt want to have “friends” just for the number sake so decided to clean up.

What did you do to declutter? Do you do the regular cleanup? What works for you? This was still doable, now finding another areas to “Declutter”, I know what you are thinking, No - My Saree closet is perfectly fine :)

A pink Jamdani for a friend's "Gender Reveal Party" I had a blue Maheshwari and pink Jamdani on my bed to decide. Was talking to mom and she decided it should be pink :) and guess what Moms are always right. It is a girl for them.
