Switzerland Saga Day 3 - Sunday Luzern and Mount Rigi

we left home in the morning. It's so much fun to travel when you have apps on your phone. You can easily book tickets through the SBB app, which helps you figure out the best options for your journey.

While we waited for our train, I did my first shopping in Switzerland , purchasing a beautiful nail polish at the pharmacy in Lausanne Station. I paid the same amount I would have in the USA, but the bottle was much smaller.

The journey took almost three hours. This was the first time we didn't book a hotel in advance, so we looked for one while on the train and found one close to the station. We dropped our bags at the hotel and left for Mount Rigi.

From Luzern, we took a boat to Vitznau. The boat ride on Lake Luzern took an hour. From Vitznau, we took a cogwheel train up to Rigi Kulm, another 40-minute journey. It was a little foggy and rainy, so the view from the top wasn't very clear. However, it wasn't raining hard, so we hung out for an hour and decided to take another route down.

There are 12 trains in a day, people live there. It was amazing to see those tiny villages of few houses on the way to mountain top

At Rigi Kaltbad, we found a horse cart and paid 40 francs for a 20-minute ride. We took the train halfway and then the gondola/cable car at Rigi Kaltbad to Arth-Goldau.

When you get down from the cable car, the boat stop is a little far, maybe a 15-minute walk. It was raining, and we were unsure of the way. Many people went to a bus stop. When I asked the bus driver for Luzern, he said yes. The driver did not understand what I was asking, but we hopped on anyway. Google Maps was not very helpful, so we just decided to go with the flow. The bus drove around various towns and finally dropped us at a train station. From there, we took a train to Luzern station and then went to our hotel, which was a former prison. It had a tiny room with a tiny window, but a clean bathroom and bed, which was all we needed for the night.

After checking in, we went to eat some Japanese food. We took a bus to explore the city and came back exhausted.

Lesson learnt - The train at Mount Rigi stops for 15 mins. ( its every hour) If I knew better I would have stayed there at the top for that 15 minutes and come back to Rigi Kaltbad and hung out there. We dint see much at the top,

a foggy day, few people hike down to next train stop.
